Leaving work yesterday I saw a cargo bike for the first time, with two children riding up front and dad pedaling out back. Very odd looking.

Then I was graced with the presence of some goofy fucker on one of these:

It seems like an elliptical bike is just adding a middleman that doesn’t need to be there, or it’s a really good way to spend $1,500 to jog faster.

Can’t wait to see these bumbling in and out of traffic in the Seattle area.

I’ve seen quite a few of that model cargo bike. I dunno how I’d feel about toting tiny humans in it, but they seem to be great for urban package delivery, groceries, and other errands. I think I recall seeing some breweries that would deliver kegs or kegged cold-brew on these bikes.

You must not have been in Eugene Oregon, both were common sites when I lived there. Those elliptical things crack me up.

That elliptical is hilarious. Was the cargo bike with kids on the road in the bike lane, or on a protected bike trail?

I’m on a military installation with base housing, so neither I guess?

Those cargo bikes are all over Amsterdam. Lots of people carry their kids in them, too.

Ah, plenty safe, though (I’d guess).

Oh yeah. It was after hours and there wasn’t much traffic. I doubt they’d be biking with the kids during normal hours.

Only if you don’t buy the one with a supporting electric motor.

My wife has ridden one of those elliptical bikes. For some crazy reason she wants one of her own. I told her when they don’t cost twice as much as a decent bike, we’ll talk about it.

Not just Amsterdam, alleen over the Netherlands. I've seen them in Germany too. And, given proper infrastructure, why wouldn't you carry kids in them?

I can kind of understand the second one, it would save your knees quite a bit, but your not stuck in the same place like an elliptical .
